Fiesta Fiesta – My Birthday Dress of Choice

Dress | Shoes (sold out) | Bag (mine is sold out – similar here)

I chose this dress for my birthday party and couldn’t have chosen something more appropriate for a fiesta. I currently have a serious Misa Los Angeles obsession and I LOVE how easy this dress was to throw on (not to mention breathable in this crazy Texas heat – which by the way, this Cali girl just ain’t quite used to yet).

The way it’s cut makes it full of movement and flow made it absolutely perfect for a night out on the town. The fun print and bright color palette screams summer (it also screams “seriously take me dancing” which I did, of course, but I’ll spare you the details on my dance moves).

All in all I think this dress is going to be one of the hit “It Girl” dresses of the season – I highly recommend grabbing one for yourself (if you haven’t already!)

Ravishing in Red – The summer season’s hottest color

Red is not only the season’s signature color, it happens to be my favorite as well, so I’m definitely one who is loving how this trend is making itself known in so many different ways this summer. From sets to separates, from prints to patterns, and in a variety of textiles, red is all over the runways and retailers.

See below for a few of my favorite selections available in red this season.

Set for Summer

Top | Skirt | Bag (on sale!) | Shoes | Sunglasses | Scarf

…In one of my favorite fashion trends – the two piece set. You may think this is just another excuse for me to wear a crop top. Well, you’d be right. But you’d also be crazy not to see the all the upsides with this trend. First of all, it eliminates the pairing nightmare of what to wear with a top or skirt. But secondly, if you’re like me and LOVE to experiment with pairing, then the options are endless. I’ve paired this same top with overalls or a simple white maxi skirt, or even high(er) waisted jeans if you’re bold and daring. The skirt I’ve paired with everything from a plain white bodysuit, to a chambray tank to even a work style blouse to transform the skirt into more every day wear (I do work in a casual office so I can get away with the length on a casual Friday when paired with a flat).

There have been quite a few of these that I’ve fallen in love with this season, but this one combines one of my other very favorite fashion trends – the color red – into one design. It’s sexy, but playful and sweet and perfect for the incredibly hot weather that makes its way into Austin (apparently even earlier than normal this year). This was a close runner up as my Fourth of July choice, but it will definitely find it’s way into my luggage for some of the upcoming trips I have this summer!

Exotic Inspiration

Top (exact print sold out, other available) | Shorts (limited availability) | Shoes (last season – sold out) Bag | Sunglasses | Ring | Earrings

One of my favorite things about style is discovering new and innovative designers in the space. A designer I discovered at Austin Fashion Week, Nomzee Designs creates her prints with inspiration from her African heritage. The prints are exotic, but the shapes are familiar – easily worn from everything to a work day to happy hour to a girls night out.

I have already purchased multiple items, but my first was this crop top (actually checked out DURING the show – talk about an impulse buy, though not a regrettable one ;)) I wore it with simple (but clean) denim shorts by Alice McCall.

I wore this look for a happy-hour-to-night-out, so I decide to take it up a notch with these Jeffrey Campbell Levluv shoes purchased at Free People last season. The edginess of this outfit also allowed me to wear these Nina Berenato horse hair earrings and ring in keeping with the overall vibe of the look.

Last I grabbed one of my FAVORITE new Sancia bags. The box style is super on trend and the horn closure detail makes this bag so unique. I love pretty much everything Sancia – but this is one of my favorites for sure.
