Austin Food + Wine – Recap

This year marked my first at Austin Food + Wine Fest, and it did NOT disappoint. In fact, if they sold tickets for next year at the fest, we would have bought them. The weekend was full of delicious food, wine and all star food industry sightings. All of Austin’s most well-known restaurants were there, and none of them held back on their offerings. The tastings were some of the best I’ve ever had, even when eating at those restaurants themselves. Items that stood out were Geraldine’s Pig-Face Candy Bars and Pina Colada Shooters, Sophia’s Lamb Ragu and Fava Bean pasta, and Lonesome Dove’s Manchego Cheese and Red Pepper Oysters.

Not only that, but the festival keeps the attendance at a reasonable level, so we were never waiting too long in a line or shoved amongst a crowd. I stood mere inches away from superstar celebrity chefs, like Jonathan Waxman, Ludo Lefebvre and Tim Love.

In fact the worst thing to happen that day was the wind was more than my hair anticipated and I had to urgently locate a hair tie – I couldn’t find one but a nice vendor loaned me the bandana I threw on (see below) and low and behold, it actually matched my dress! Talk about first world problems.

For the fest, I chose this For Love & Lemons favorite, the Saffron Maxi Dress in a beautiful sunset floral print. The dress is sold out most places, but you can find similar styles by the designer here  (Luciana Dress) and here (Flamenco Dress). You may also find a few rare sizes on sale via eBay here.

I paired the dress with the ever popular shoe-lace choker (mine is Kendra Scott); my go to Nina Beranato Horizon cuff and matching Spectrum earrings (this sell out so quickly so grab them when you see them!). I grabbed my newest Sancia bag (I am SO addicted to this brand) and threw on these Free People lace up wedges (now on sale here!)

  1. Thank you! Great point – it was pretty hot and windy out so I had difficulty taking many photos while at the fest! I’ll take that note for next year! 🙂
